November 3, 2023 - Form Practice with Mugsy

I took a break from working on the RV-10 on this beautiful Friday and went flying with Mugsy, after showing him the RV-10 build.  Here we are headed east over the Chesapeake Bay after departing Essex Skypark.

We practiced formation flying over the eastern shore.   First I flew lead, and led Mugsy through all the normal maneuvers:  turns, crossunders, echelon turns, rejoins and loose trail follow the leader.  Then we swapped the lead and Mugsy led me through the same maneuvers.  It's good to practice formation flying once in awhile to shake the rust off.  The air was fairly smooth but the afternoon sun was brutal when flying wingman.

For obvious reasons, I couldn't take any pictures while in close formation, but I did take a few following Mugsy over the wide Chester River.  The sun really lit up the river.  The following pictures don't do it justice.  I need to start taking some video.

Got to see a pretty sunset driving home from the Skypark.  That's the Key Bridge up ahead.
